An Appeals Officer may revise his or her decision or the decision of another Appeals Officer if new evidence, new facts or any relevant change of circumstances come to light after a decision is made. |

The Director may revise a decision of an Appeals Officer if it appears that a mistake was made in relation to the law or the facts. |

| How long will the appeal take? | |
| The Appeals Office has set a target of 3 months for the completion of appeals. However in some cases this may not be possible. In 2002, an average appeal took 71 days. | |
| How much does an Appeal cost? | |
| There is no charge for lodging an appeal. | |
